5. First Company to Receive ISCC Certification
Arkas Bunker, a subsidiary of Arkas Holding, continues its journey with a sustainable business model in maritime fuels, supporting companies in reducing their carbon emissions. In line with its mission to protect the environment and resources, the approval from ISCC provides an international, transparent, and practice-oriented system, which is one of the world’s most prestigious certification programs.
The ISCC Certification criteria include compliance with applicable laws and regulations, sustainable land use and biodiversity protection, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts, respect for human rights and labor rights, responsible water use and management, as well as traceability and transparency across the supply chain. Renewable energy sources are defined as energy sources that can remain available the next day as part of nature’s evolution. These sources help protect the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions and, being local resources, contribute to reducing energy dependence and increasing employment. Renewable energy sources are also sustainable since they are produced without the use of fossil fuels, preventing the depletion of energy resources like natural gas, coal, and oil, while promoting the use of less harmful fuels for the environment.
Arkas Bunker, proud to be the first company in Türkiye’s maritime fuel sector to receive ISCC certification, continues to support companies in reducing their carbon emissions through its sustainable business model in maritime fuels.

Arkas Bunker has started using biofuel in the Turkish maritime industry for the first time. With the refueling of Arkas Line’s container vessel, Matilde A, a marine fuel containing environmentally friendly bio-components, entirely produced from waste in Türkiye, has been used for the first time in Türkiye. The fuel, named “Bio24F,” meets sector regulations while significantly reducing carbon emissions without changing the vessel’s fuel system.
